The iPhone 13 cameras would be assembled differently

Signed informationThe Elec, which is not its first rumor of this kind, assures that the company Hyvision System will now be responsible for providing Foxconn with kits to inspect the quality of the photo block on future iPhones. A necessary measure in order to honor the quality promise made by Apple on the imaging side. Indeed, in the event of poor alignment of the various sensors, captures can simply be missed, which is what Apple's new strategy aims to avoid.

Where this procedure changes is that previously other subcontractors had the heavy task of assembling the back-end module. It was then the Korean LG Innotek, from Sharp and the O'Film company. The latter having been accused of forced labor during the Uyghur scandal has since been removed from production, while Apple finally chose to separate from the other two in favor of less significant expenses.

An impact on prices?

However, it is still impossible to count on a reduction in prices also on the consumer side, at least for the moment. The new contract with Hon Hai could nevertheless be an encouraging element in this direction: internalizing the design of the M1 processors has, for example, reduced the price of the Mac mini from 929 to 799 euros, for relatively similar or even better performance.

Furthermore, there is no proof either that Apple's new method will indeed be favored for the release of the iPhone 13. This is certainly the most likely, but we must not forget that the iPhone 11 and XR are still available , while the iPhone 12s are only less than a year old. Perhaps they will play the role of a test bench before application to future products which –we know it– are already on their way.

iOS too

According to other rumors this time shared by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 13 would still be entitled to some significant advantages for end users, in the form of software improvements.“Portrait mode”, for example, could soon be compatible with videos. A conference organized next month should verify this, certainly online.
