Update October 25, 2024: Finally,no keynote should take place in October. Announcements of new Macs should be made via classic press release.
Apple could reserve alast Keynote for the year 2024in a few days to present its new Mac M4s. Let's see together what date the Californian firm should choose to make its announcements. For this, let's base ourselves on the history of the Cupertino company in terms of timing for an Apple end-of-year event and on the latest rumors on this subject.
When will Apple's special Mac M4 end-of-year Keynote take place?
History
Here are the dates of Apple's end-of-year Keynotes since 2015:
- 2015 :no Apple Event in October/November
- 2016 :October 27, with the presentation of a new MacBook Pro
- 2017 :no Apple Event in October/November
- 2018 :October 30, with the presentation of a new MacBook Air, a new Mac mini and a new iPad Pro
- 2019 :no Apple Event in October/November
- 2020 :November 10, 2020, with the presentation of the Apple M1 chip for the MacBook Air, Mac mini and MacBook Pro 13″
- 2021 :October 18, with the presentation of AirPods 3, MacBook Pro 14 and 16″ with Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max chip and new HomePod mini colors
- 2022 :no Apple Event in October/November
- 2023 :October 30, 1:00 a.m. (Mac M3)
Please note that this is not a regular event. In certain years, such as 2015, 2017 or even 2019 and 2022, Apple has chosen not tonot broadcast Keynote.
Otherwise, overall, barring the exceptional case of 2020 with a delayed release of iPhones caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, all end-of-year Apple Events took place in October.
Apple's habits therefore show us that normally, if Keynote at the end of the year there is, on the one hand, it is devoted to Macs, but we already knew that, on the other hand, it takes place in october. And indeed, recent information has supported this hypothesis, see the details below.
The rumors
Apple specialist analysts, includingMark Gurman from Bloomberg, recently suggested that a Keynote could take place next week, from Monday October 28. This seems a little surprising to us given that Apple has a habit of notifying journalists a week in advance and that to date, there is still nothing official on this subject.
But this supports the company's history that the conference is often held in October and more specifically in the last week of the month.
Tim Cook could therefore take advantage of this to broadcast a rather short video, lasting around an hour, detailing the new Macs to come, as he did last year.

In conclusion
Monday October 28 seems to us to be a good hypothesis, even the deadline is short until then, knowing that Apple has not yet officially announced anything. The other days of the week could also match the information established above (history and rumors).
Finally, let's keep in mind that it is not impossible that this Keynote will still arrive in November, even if this seems less likely to us.
What's new: the M4 chip, the expected star of the end of 2024 for the Mac
Regarding the new things to see during this event, here is what the rumors in the corridor suggest at this stage:
- MacBook Pro M4:no new design or other significant novelty, only the transition to the M4 processor
- Mac mini M4 :transition to the M4 chip and change of design. The size of the case could decrease compared to the current generation and tend towards the dimensions of an Apple TV
- iMac M4 :here too, the all-in-one would benefit from the new Apple silicon M4 chip. But if you're expecting a design refresh, like the MacBook Pro, you may be disappointed. The PC could simply embrace USB-C connectivity by accompanying the release of new Apple accessories (Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad, all connected via USB-C)
All we have to do is wait for the invitations or at least the official announcement of this potential Keynote Mac M4.
Are you particularly looking forward to such an event?
