Apple recently began accepting alternative app stores on iOS, officially called alternative app marketplaces. We have also explained to you how theAltStore, but alsoSetapp Mobile, the two real first services of this type available and usable on iPhone.
But if they were quick to shake up the native App Store, a third player expected around the corner seems to want to take its time. This is Epic Games, with the Epic Games Store, a new alternative apps marketplace. In fact, this week we learned that we will have to wait until 2025 to benefit from it. More specifically, Epic Games Store should arrive on iPhone betweenJune and December next year.
Furthermore, this also means the upcoming return of Fortnite on iOS, since the Epic app store will of course contain the famous game banned for some time by Apple on its mobile platforms.
Note, however, that in the announcement, the Epic Games Store would arrive in 2025 in the United Kingdom, without details for France and the EU. For Fortnite, Tim Sweeney (CEO of Epic Games) is counting on areturn to the EU in 2024.

Now returning to UK in 2025!
Returning to EU in 2024The battle rages on to lift Apple’s digital Iron Curtain from the US, Australia, Japan, Korea, Brazil, and the rest of the free world.

Otherwise, the video game developer (Fortnite, Rocket League, Unreal Tournament, etc.)has already certifiedthat its app store would only ask for a commission of12 %for any premium purchase. This is much less than the 30% taken by Apple from its App Store. Enough to potentially attract many developers to the Epic Games Store.
Who among you is impatiently awaiting the return of Fortnite on iOS and/or the arrival of this Epic Games Store?
