For a few days,we already assumethat Apple is preparing to develop its own alternative to ChatGPT. This solution, as we recall, now allows everyone to communicate with a powerful artificial intelligence capable of answering absolutely any question. Certainly with more or less reliability, but with much more effective precision than Siri or Alex. Even the Google Assistant, oftenranked number onein its sector, is very far from reaching its ankle.
But according to new rumors coming straight fromNew York Times,Apple could well prepare its revenge. The newspaper reports that engineers from the Apple firm are working on a language model similar to that of OpenAI. Nothing on a potential release date, however, but there's little chance of Apple rushing it. The company rather appreciates taking the time to consult the competition, to duplicate the best strategies and offer the best differentiating element: design or experience.
Siri in the loop
Still according to theNew York Times, they are above all developers also in charge of the projectSiriwhich would be focused on the creation of this content-generating artificial intelligence.
The voice assistant is currently available onall iPads, iPhones and Macsdisplayed in store. It is also found in the eponymous Apple TV remote control, but it is still impossible to access it from a competing brand device, unlike what Amazon and Google offer with their own services.
Weeks of work
John Burkey, formerly employed at Apple, was able to speak with theTimesto give his opinion on these rumors in the corridor. But according to him,Siri will never have what it takes to overshadow ChatGPT. Updating the database of Apple's proprietary assistant would take up to six weeks, which is not negligible. For its part, OpenAI has just presented GPT-4, the latest version of the program which, behind the scenes, generates ChatGPT responses.
