After the announcement oflatest quarterly resultss of Apple, Tim Cook participated in several interviews, includingone granted to the ABC channel, where he discusses the future of the “screen time” feature and the importance of user privacy.
CNBC also obtained an interview with Tim Cook. During this, he broached the subjectacquisitions made by Appleduring thelast six months, without mentioning any names.
Apple very rarely communicates on its various acquisitions. It either buys talents who join its own teams, or technologies which they then use in its various products and services.
During the interview, Tim Cook shared a figure of25 companies acquired in the last six months, which represents according to his words, “on average, a company acquired by Apple every two to three weeks“.
Usually, Apple achieves this figure over a year, so this is an acceleration of acquisitions for the Apple firm. We imagine to develop new services and future products.
Among the rare acquisitions announced by Apple in 2018, we can mention thebuyout of Texture, which became News+, but also theShazam music recognition service.
To date, Apple's largest acquisition remains theacquisition of Beats in 2014for 3 billion dollars. Apple has since released several new products under the Beats brand, including the recent wireless headphones,Powerbeats Pro.
