iOS 15.2b2: child protection, Find My improvements and other new features

Update November 11: Public beta is available.

The second beta version of iOS 15.2 has been available since last night. This is also the case for iPadOS 15.2, tvOS 15.2 and watchOS 8.3. In addition to fixing various bugs, here are the major additions that we noted:

  • iMessage Child Protection:Apple is rolling out in iOS 15.2 a new feature announced this summer concerning the protection of children from pornographic images. It helps protect a user receiving this potentially shocking content. This function is intended for children. It is available for family accounts, is not activated by default and only concerns files received in Messages. See details about thisici
  • Camera :new icon indicating that Macro mode is activated when taking a photo and new button to activate Macro mode directly from the Camera app

iOS 15.2 finally adds a manual toggle for Macro mode, right from the camera!pic.twitter.com/w3ef3xdCsJ

  • Digital heritage:functionality describediciand allowing you to give access to your iCloud account to a trusted third party. This is practical especially in the event of death.
  • Locate:two new functions have appeared. The first allows you to find objects compatible with the Locate network and declared lost, the second is used to detect a surrounding object which is currently following the user
  • Hide my email address:the function is now accessible directly from the Mail app
  • App TV :new design for the iPadOS 15 app and appearance of a Store tab

Beta 1 of iOSmade the following notable changes last week:

  • Improved app privacy reporting
  • Emergency call: the user can now press the power button located on the edge of the iPhone several times in a row and quickly to alert emergency services. Also works with a long press on this button and the volume button at the same time. Practical in the event of an attack, with eight seconds passing before communication starts compared to three previously. Perhaps following thefalse positives reported by emergency services
  • Summary of notifications: new design

Currently, only developers enrolled in the Developer Beta Program can test these Beta 2s.

If there are any of you, don't hesitate to give us your feedback on these new iterations of Apple's OS.
