WWDC Keynote on June 7: what to expect?

WWDC, this Apple event dedicated to developers, willstart Monday June 7. As usual, the first day will be that of the keynote which will see Tim Cook and his associates present the new OS. So, we should know more at this time about the next versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, but also iPadOS.

But if this WWDC conference will be centered, by tradition, onsoftware news, it is not impossible that new hardware products will also show up. According to recent rumors, several new machines are in preparation at Apple, and historically, this firing window of early June has often been used by the Californian firm to launch new Macs. We talk in particulara new MacBook Pro 16″, but also a new MacBook Pro 14″, among other new AirPods to take full advantage of Apple Music in Lossless Audio. In short, let's see together what could be presented by Apple at its next event.

What announcements are likely for the WWDC keynote?

iOS 15

Rumors about iOS 15 have been quite rare until now. This would include the following improvements:

  • Notifications :new notification setting based on a sort of “status”. Notifications could, for example, alert the user during the day, but remain silent at night, while driving, or even at work, and this automatically. Of theautomatic responsesMessages could even be configured to be sent based on status. These new options should be accessible on the lock screen and in the Control Center
  • iMessage :no information available on any improvements, but it is understood that Apple will work to make iMessage as feature-rich as competing apps, including WhatsApp
  • Privacy: new menu in which it would be possible to know which applications collect user data
  • Dark mode:new options allowing you to control dark mode in more detail, especially regarding colors
  • Health :Apple's Health application would include a new food tracking functionality, with calorie and nutrient counting, similar to what applications like MyFitnessPal or even Foodvisor and Lifesum do.
  • Settings:the “Settings” application would benefit from some improvements in terms of ergonomics
  • Background noises:several types of ambient background sounds available to improve concentration, calm down, de-stress, relax or fall asleep (sounds of rain, ocean, forest, white noise, etc.)
  • Memojis:new customization options with the appearance of medical aids, oxygen tube and cochlear implant for example
  • Hearing aids:compatibility with new MFi hearing aids for two-way listening and support for calls and FaceTime
  • Audiogrammes :support for audiogram headphones to personalize the sound according to your hearing profile and its losses, if any, in terms of frequencies
  • Voice control by sound:improved voice control for users with motor and speech difficulties
  • Text size and screen setting:settings configurable by application

watchOS 8

In the same way as for iOS 15, the new features of wathcOS 8 are not yet well known. Here is what has already been spotted, however:

  • AssistiveTouch :new accessibility option allowing you to use the watch without having to touch the screen, but only by taking advantage of the Apple Watch sensors

iPadOS 15

iPadOS 15 will benefit from the majority of the new features of iOS 15, but also some specific features, including:

  • Eye movement tracking:new accessibility option to control iPad using gaze
  • Home screen:new design with improved widget management

tvOS 15

Concerning the Apple TV box OS, it could benefit from a new design and a new special operating mode for children with parental management, particularly for screen time and usable applications. .

macOS 12

The next version of macOS has remained very secret until now, perhaps even more so than the next versions of Apple's mobile OS. It could be that the change is made for one of these two possibilities:Mammoth ou Monterey.

So much for the new OS, which, we hope, will be rich in new features, improvements, adjustments and other changes. But know that the Apple firm surely has some material surprises to present to us. As shown below.

Any new hardware features?

According to the latest rumors, the new product most likely to be seen at the next keynote would be aMacBook Pro 16″with Apple silicon chip. Indeed, last November, Apple renewed its MacBook Pro range by abandoning Intel for its in-house chips. But the change only concerned the 13.3-inch version. The 16″ MacBook Pro currently on sale still includes an Intel processor. We therefore hope to see the arrival of a new generation of this machine with an improved version of the Apple silicon M1 chip equipping iPad Pro, iMac, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13.3″.

It could also be that a 14″ MacBook Pro will see the light of day, but in our opinion this is less likely, given that the 13.3″ version dates from last November and that Apple would have little interest in keeping it in the range two models of 13.3 and 14 inches.

We are also expecting new AirPods Pro or in any case a new listening system allowing you to take full advantage of the two big new features arriving in June on the services side: Apple Lossless Audio and Spatial Audio.

Finally, some hope to see a newMore powerful Mac mini, but also a new generation of Mac Pro. But I wouldn't bet a cent on these last two hypotheses. Especially since the next Mac Pro shouldarrive in 2022according to recent revelations.

But still?

Apple Lossless et Spatial Audio

These new Apple Music features were announced a few days ago via press release for availability in June.Detailed here, we imagine that it could well benefit from a little demonstration or in any case a little reminder during the opening event of the WWDC, or even an announcement of a precise availability date.

It remains towait patiently Monday June 7to see what Apple has prepared for us. The conference will start at 7 p.m. French time, but we invite you to joinour live monitoringfrom 2 p.m. to respond to surveys while preparing for new features.
