In addition to the seriesiPhone 14, that we look forward to, Apple has many other new products planned for 2022. And among these, there should be a new iPad Air.
Since the last model was launched in the second half of 2020, we could expect the iPad Air 5 to also be unveiled and marketed in the second half of 2022. But apparently, according to a new rumor, the wait will not be as long.
Indeed, citing sources of the Japanese blog Macotakara, the 9TO5MAC site indicates that Apple could launch the iPad Air 5 from this spring 2022, at the same time as the new iPhone SE. However, according to another source, the journalist of Bloomberg Mark Gurman, a virtual event would be provided by Apple for theiPhone se 3, in March or April.
Characteristics similar to those of the iPad Mini 6?
In addition, the source relayed by 9TO5MAC does not only mention the launch of the next iPad Air. According to the new rumor, the tablet would have a technical sheet fairly close to that of theSixth generation iPad MiniLaunched in 2021.
Thus, the iPad Air 5 would therefore have an A15 Bionic chip, guaranteeing performance comparable to those of the iPhone 13, 5G connectivity for models with cellular, as well as an ultra-large 12-megapixel front camera with support for the Center Stage functionality for videoconferences.
This would represent an important evolution compared to the iPad Air 4 of 2020. And it is possible that other improvements are provided by Apple. But as usual, for the moment, this information is not official.
New iPad Pro would also be in the pipes
At the same time, Apple also prepares the launch of its next iPad Pro. And as in 2021, the Cupertino firm would plan to send heavy.
While the old iPad Pro use slightly modified iPhone chips, the 2021 models use a chip designed for computers: the M1 chip. And according to sources relayed in another article of 9TO5MAC, the iPad Pro 2022 would use a new chip which may well be the M2 chip (which should also equip the new 2022 MacBook Air).
Besides that, on the design side, Apple could keep the aluminum back, while integrating Magsafe technology. The firm would indeed have prototyped an iPad Pro with an aluminum back, but whose part where there is the logo is made of glass, which would allow this integration of Magsafe.
