Apple presented a new feature for its Apple TV+ video streaming service during its WWDC opening conference. Called “insight”, it should allow users to have real-time information on the people on the screen as well as the music currently playing in a series or film on the platform.
Similar features already exist onother SVOD platformslike Prime Video, which was the first to offer this information in real time to its audience. With the introduction of this new feature iniOS 18 beta, Apple demonstrates its desire to make Apple TV+ a first-choice solution, just like Netflix, Disney+ and other big names in the sector.
Concretely, it is possible to display the filmography of an actor or even display the song currently playing directly in Apple Music. Viewers can also see Insight information on their iPhone when using it as an Apple TV remote.

Apple currently only offers this service on its own streaming platform. As was said above, the Apple brand's competitors in the SVOD market have similar options and it is unlikely that they will abandon their in-house solution in favor of that of a competitor.
The only company that could make this choice is Disney+. The platform is very close to Apple and the two companies have very good relations. Disney+ could decide in the coming months to use “insight” on its iPhone application in order to take advantage of the integration of Apple Music and Safari more easily.
How to take advantage of it today
If you want to test the “insight” functionality on your iPhone to get an idea of how this new option looks, here’s how to do it. You must first ensure that your smartphone is compatible with iOS 18. You can find the list of devices eligible for this updateici. Then you must, if this is not done, install the latest version of the iOS 18 beta. Here is a detailed tutorialto install these beta versions of iOS.
Be careful though, using a non-general public version of iOS 18 may cause bugs and other problems. Betas are working versions of the software that allow Apple teams to make corrections before the update is released to the general public.
