It's not recommended to install macOS Sequoia right away, but when you do, then you might enjoy a unique advantage. And for good reason: thanks to this version, the App Store no longer requires storage space worth twice the volume of the application to be installed. In other words, if your app only weighs 200 MB, then it will not be necessary for your computer to offer at least 400 MB of disk space.
Instead, Apple now specifies that you only need a little more than the volume of the app to install it. This provides enough margin for the data which will then be saved in the platform in question, it seems.
When will we be able to take advantage of this new feature?
The update tomacOS Sequoiais already available in versionbeta, but primarily aimed at developers. Additionally, this edition certainly has many bugs. It is therefore better not to install it now, and to wait more. But the public beta version is also likely to encounter technical problems, just like the final version this fall, in fact. It is therefore not uncommon for Mac users to wait several months after this to update their Mac and avoid incidents.
We do not yet know the exact release date of macOS Sequoia in final version, but it should coincide with the month ofseptemberfuture. It was also during this period that the final versions ofiOS 18, iPadOS 18 or even watchOS 11 will be deployed for everyone.
Savings by choosing your Mac
Since Apple now no longer requires as much memory to download apps, we can assume that it will be easier for buyers to opt for Macs with the minimum internal storage when ordering. However, this type of device is much more affordable than the best-supplied versions.
- macOS 15 no longer requires you to have as much storage volume as previously when installing an app
- The final version will probably arrive around September
- It thus becomes easier to choose a Mac with little memory when purchasing, but it is more affordable
