You are impatiently awaiting the new generation of CarPlayunveiled in June 2022? Apple then promised you a completely new experience, with afull dashboard integrationand the possibility ofpersonalize the display according to your car. At the end of 2023, Porsche and Aston Martin gave usan overviewof their personalized interfaces.
The situation has hardly changed for several months. If iOS 18.2 already includesall the necessary elementsto thismajor upgrade, some manufacturers seem less eager to offer it. This new version must, however, transform the dashboards into a real connected cockpit.
A wait that continues
On the Porsche side, caution seems in order! A spokesperson forthe German luxury brand has just spoken to MacRumors on the subject. According to him, owners of a compatible Porsche will have to make do with the current CarPlay integration in the short term for the moment. A surprising decision when we know that the brand already offers advanced features. Among them we find the special routing for electric models in Apple Plans, available for example on the Taycan.
This position reflects a certain caution in the face of thismajor technological change, especially since the personalized interface presented last yearseemed well advanced:

As for Aston Martin, which also presented its vision to you in December 2023, no compatible vehicle is yet available.

This situation could raise questions as Apple maintains on its site that you will be able to benefit from it in 2024. Time is running out since there is only one month left to keep this promise.
In passing, we could consider Porsche's speech as an indicator. Perhaps the brand was informed by Apple of an imminent release of the new CarPlay, as the latest iOS beta suggests.
Developments still active
Apple is actively continuing development as evidenced byrecent filing of protection for its designsin the European Union. The latest beta version of iOS 18.2, the final version of which is scheduled for December 9, includes many new elements which suggest that the overhaul will not take long. Perhaps Apple will therefore meet the deadlines!
