First rumors about the second Pro Display XDR screen!

Apple is currently testing a monitor powered by an A13 processor, according to journalists from9to5Mac. What's more, this would be accompanied by the now traditional Neural Engine that has been found on the brand's mobiles for several years now. The chip itself also equips the iPhone 11 as well as its Pro and Pro Max versions.

Developed under the code name J327, the screen in question, however, still remains quite vague to this day. As a reminder, the Pro Display With its 6K resolution, however, it is difficult to imagine what its manufacturer could improve, althoughthat some criticism of the beast may have been expressed in the past.

The perfect accessory for the Mac?

Improved, the Pro Display XDR has every chance of becoming a real benchmark in its field. Particularly to equip Macs that do not have a screen, such asthe Mac mini just renewed and with a better quality/price ratio with its proprietary M1 CPU. As for the Mac Pro, it hasn't changed in almost two years either. Some even believe thatit could return to the forefront with an even more efficient technical sheetduring the usual keynote this fall.

On the other hand, if computers remain the preferred machines for large power needs such as video editors, studios or developers, tablets are not left out. With the same Apple silicon SoC as the latest iMac, the fifth generation iPad Pro and its 12.9-inch display is the best example. Thanks to its Thunderbolt 3 compatibility, it can also broadcast a continuous stream to the Pro Display XDR without a hitch thanks to the two-meter cable supplied with the latter.

Autonomy objective

The one that we will call with a wet finger Pro Display XDR 2 - if it took advantage of the same architecture as the iPhone - would therefore also include a GPU under its aluminum shell. An undeniable advantage to avoid consuming all the energy stored by the source computer, the image processing being managed by the graphics card of the external screen. Enough to buy?
