New index for the presence of 5G in 2020 iPhones

Qualcomm released a report for investors recently. Remember that this American company is one of Apple's main subcontractors for iPhones. The firm has notably produced modems for Apple smartphones in the past. It should also take care of the next 5G modem chips for the 2020 iPhones,as recently claimed by a rumor from Asia.

And in its new financial publication, Qualcomm left a small clue, according to market analysts. The firm predicts that next year, the 5G market should experience a significant leap forward. Nearly 200 million smartphones are expected to be sold, equipped with new wireless internet technology, which bodes well for the manufacturer.

Qualcomm CFO Akash Palkhiwala even clarified that two important moments will take place in 2020 for the 5G chip market. The first will correspond to the spring release of Samsung's new flagship smartphones, the successors to the Galaxy S10 and S10+. The second will take place later in the year, around the fall, which frames an important release period for various manufacturers, Google in particular, but also and especially Apple.

However, the next iPhones of 2020 would arrive like every year in September and are expected with 5G. According to analysts, Qualcomm's forecasts, with these 200 million 5G devices sold, take into account the release of Apple terminals equipped with the new technology.

Remember that Apple plans to manufacture its own 5G chips in the future. But we will have to wait until at least 2022 to see iPhones integrate 5G modems marked with the Apple. In the meantime, Qualcomm would benefit from it. Intel, another major manufacturer of iPhone modems in the past, gave up the battle a few months ago. Its modem division has in fact passed the weapon to the left.

The next 202 iPhones, apart from 5G, should also be equipped with an OLED panel and benefit from a new design, with new screen sizes,as detailed here.
