A new iPod Touch with a strong “Gaming” connotation? The rumor of the moment...

Last week, a report from the Japanese site MacOtakara mentioned that Apple would be in the process ofdevelop a new iPod touchwhich should be released this year. The last time this product was updated was in 2015.

At the same time, we learn that the American patent office recently approved an application from Apple concerning the iPod touch, so that itcovers aspects related to gaming.

Apple obtained an extension of the iPod touch trademark to cover “portable devices for playing electronic games; portable consoles“.

For this request, Apple added a screenshot of its website showing the iPod touch page with a Gaming section.

This suggests that the next iPod touch could be a powerful machine, capable of running demanding games at maximum settings, like Fortnite at 60 fps.

It's possible, given the large number of games on the App Store and the enormous revenue they generate for Apple.

In addition, the presence of very popular games, such as Fortnite, helps to give a better image of mobile gaming. Note also that it is possible to use MFI controllers, we have seen severalin this folder, to playcompatible games.

It is also possible that there is nothing planned at all for the future and that this is simply a legal formality.
