Shazam has just been updated on Mac: it's the first time in two years. In the menu, the app is compatible with computers running underApple silicon, which therefore concernsMacBook Air M2 and MacBook Pro M2 (13-inch). Also affected: the Mac mini M1, the 24-inch iMac, the 13-inch MacBook Pro (M1), the MacBook Air M1, the 14.2 and 16.2-inch MacBook Pro with M1 Pro or M1 Max chip as well as the Mac Studio. Intel Macs that were already installed remain eligible to install Shazam.
At the same time, Shazam also changes its icon on the big screen with now adesignmore faithful to the rules of macOS Monterey. Normally, the update will automatically download to your device if you have enabled the associated setting. However, for us you had to go through the App Store: if the deployment did not take place, version 2.11 awaits you there.
Why have Shazam on your Mac?
The advantage of Shazam on Mac is twofold: access to your titles discovered elsewhere in a synchronized manner on the one hand, and scan the music played on your computer on the other. The app shortcut here takes the form of a small icon installed in themenu bar, which you only need to click once to trigger melodies detection.
Under each recognized title, a button redirects you to its Apple Music page. The Apple platform allows you to listen to millions of titles on demand for 9.99 euros per month with its basic package (a reduction exists for students). Shazam is also an extension foriMessage, a version for Apple Watches, a client for iPhone and another for iPad tablets. Android users also have access to the service, which also has a web version that will ask you for access to your machine's microphone.
In the car, Shazam is finally compatible withCarPlay, Cupertino's proprietary operating system for dashboards.
