Test of the iPhone 5 protective glass Patchworks USG

In our series of
tests de
protections pour iPhone 5
which continues to expand, we were able to discover there
a few weeks
the test of the Glas tR protective glass for iPhone 5
and today
it is another model, less expensive which passed into our hands, the
USG patchworks on sale here at the price of 18.49 euros
.

Let's first recall the principle of this type of screen protection:
avoid scratches like plastic films but also avoid
screen breakage in case of impact
. It is in theory the layer of glass which
will break, avoiding the worst to the precious screen. Finally, this protection is
advertised as anti-fingerprint.

Premier contact

The window is delivered in very protective and rigid cardboard packaging,
This is essential so that it does not arrive broken. Once unpacked the
different layers of protection, the window appears covered with each
covered with plastic wrap. It has a thickness of 0.4 mm. It's little
but there is still
thinner with the HugU
i.e. 0.3 mm.

Set up

This is the important moment, the pose! Indeed, it is essential to
take your time to avoid the two pitfalls: leaving dust
under the glass and place it crooked.

So simply peel off the two plastic sheets after cleaning.
your screen as best as possible with the cloth provided, do not drag it afterwards
in order toto avoid the arrival of new dust before the
pose
.

All you have to do is gently place the window, taking care to
align it. It's a nice surprise for anyone who has already struggled with installing a film.
plasticbecause the rigidity of the window works wonders, on a la
possibility of aligning it really well with the speaker at the top (there is a
specific cut) and especially the button where there is almost no margin. But
you just need to gently approach the window and it will find itself placed without
clutter. The trapped air is then expelled (without problem) by pressing
center then on the sides.

On the other hand, as the window is sticky, there will be no right to
the mistake, if you have to peel it off, it will not be reusable.

Once the window has been installed and the last layer of plastic protection
taken off, you can quickly see the difference in height at the button
main, which is no longer flush at all.

To bring it back to the correct height and facilitate support, two pieces of
sticky plastic are offered. One in black, the other in white, for
adapt to the color of your iPhone. No big difficulty here, just
gently glue the button.

And the result once posed:

Utilisation

In use, the window does not pose any sensitivity problems, the scanning of
the screen, the support and the games react as if the glass was not
present.

To the touch, we find the glass again as if the screen had no
protection while fingerprints are present, no
sudden disappearance, but it's easy to clean.

In the end, apart from the visual aspect on the sides and at the speaker level
and the button, the protection is invisible and pleasant to use because it
knows how to be forgotten. We are a long way from plastic films!

At the level of the button, visually, the choice of a "rounded" addition is not
necessarily the happiest and is not necessarily very aesthetic, a button
smooth or curved would have been preferable! On the other hand, in terms of efficiency, not
problem, it falls well under the finger and allows you to avoid keeping the button
deep, therefore difficult to access. As the button protrudes slightly
the surface, we can imagine that in certain cases, this could awaken
the iPhone and even why not this brave personal assistant Siri, but that
only happened once, when the iPhone had been pressed heavily in the
few.

Finally, to test the resistance, I tried to scratch the glass with a
scissor tip, but it didn't make an impression at all.

Conclusion

This is certainly more practical and pleasant protection than the
traditional plastic film, which does not change the touch and seems very
good resistance, while not taking many finger marks (without
let it not be miraculous!). You still have to agree to add 0.4
mm more on the screen, which is visible up close, but not really annoying.
Only the solution adopted for the button seemed a little less successful to us.
visually, while remaining comfortable to use. Finally, it should be noted,
models of protective glass for the iPhone, this one is by far the
less expensive.
