Apple abruptly halted the rollout of watchOS 11.1 beta 3, a minor update towatchOS 11supposed to fix some bugs and improve performance. A decision which follows numerous user feedback statingof watches rendered completely unusable after installation.
Frozen Apple Watches, a nightmare for users
The update, initially intended for developers, quickly showed its limits. Many users reported on Redditquite disabling dysfunctions: Apple Watch completely blocked, inability to synchronize Messages notifications, and even more annoying, inability to restart affected devices normally.
Onle subreddit r/watchOSBeta, a user under the nickname zayl3xexplains bitterly: «Anyone else having issues with the Messages app or notifications after updating? My Ultra 2 freezes with every message notification, and I can't get the app to load correctly. Restarting the phone and watch didn't change anything. For now, I've managed to work around the issue by turning off message notifications on my watch».
Another testimony,even more edifying, relate : «It freezes completely every time it restarts. I press the side button and the Digital Crown to restart it, it restarts, but not even a minute later it's stuck again. The time no longer updates, nothing. It just happened when someone messaged me, and it hasn't stopped since. This is the 7th time it has crashed in just 15 minutes.».
The situation is all the more worrying as usershave no way to revert to an earlier version of firmwarewithout going through an Apple Store or an authorized repair center.
It's a bit of a mess for Apple in terms of bugsRight now. Between the bug ofiPadOS 18 update on iPad Pro M4s(Normally,a fix is on fire),display problems on the iMac M1etMessages App issues, also linked to Apple Watch, the list is growing. The technical teams are certainly working to correct all of this;hopefully it won't take too long.
