Since Friday, certain pairs of AirPods Pro have started to receive version numbered 4A362b of their operating system. As is often the case, the deployment of the software has gone relatively unnoticed given that it is carried out in complete discretion. There is therefore no need to go through the Settings app to download the new version, unlike the method for Mac, iPhone, Watch and iPad.
We just know - according to several testers who have already discovered it - that the update brings the Conversation Boost functionality to the headphones. Announced withall other additional options of iOS 15, this is dedicated to users with hearing loss.
What is Conversation Boost?
Conversation Boost helps focus the audio stream from the person speaking in front of the wearer directly into their ears. A solution using not only the software, but also the beamforming microphones integrated into the structure of the AirPods Pro. More concretely, the system works more or less like the satellite dishes that some nature enthusiasts use to listen to birds from a distance. Other professionals such as private detectives also use this technology for their investigations. Hearing aids sold in specialized stores also have similar advantages.

Soon on “classic” AirPods?
According to several pressing rumors, Apple is preparing to unveil the AirPods 3 in September. This generation of the most affordable earbuds from the American firmwould then be the first to also offer silicone tips, alongside other assets inspired by its Pro version. From there to imagining that Conversation Boost is also there for the entry-level model, there is only one step.
The second AirPods with wireless charging case are currently available for 229 euros from Apple, compared to almost 22% cheaper for the wired product only. As for AirPods Pro, they start at 279 euros. Finally, the AirPods Max headset is listed at 629 euros.
