Which Apple TVs are compatible?
tvOS 17 is therefore an important update, but like all software developments, not all devices are entitled to it. Regarding tvOS 17 in particular, you must have an Apple TV from at least 2015 to qualify for the update.The three models of Apple TV 4k, released respectively in 2017, 2021 and 2022, also have the right to update.
If you have trouble launching the update, go to the settings of your Apple TV and the “software update” subsection. Most Apple TVs are configured to launch updates automatically, TvOS 17 may have already installed, without you even realizing it.
