iOS 8 now deployed on 80% of iPhones and iPads in circulation

In what
concerns the share of machines using the latest version of the system
of Apple's mobile operating system, the start will have been a little slow. But the
trend has been continuous in recent months, leading to an important milestone.
Now, more than 80% of iPhone and iPad machines in circulation use iOS
8.

To compare, a similar figure had been reached
at the start of the year for iOS 7
.

It is on its developer page that Apple displayed the current score, which is
precisely 81%.

This figure is measured for all machines that Apple sees connecting to
the App Store, whether to install new apps or for updates
day. There is undoubtedly a lack of machines for the people who use them most
basic but it's agood approximation of the current state of the
parc
. At the same time, 17% of the other machines remained
to iOS 7, while 2% have an older OS. We are thinking in particular of the iPhone
3GS and older that couldn't upgrade to iOS 7.

This information is important for developers, indeed
each version of iOS brings its share of new featuresand keep
compatibility with an older system may lead torestrain them
functions offered to users and development tools
. Il
is therefore necessary for each publisher to regularly ask themselves the question
versions to support.

Next June, Apple should present the new version of iOS,
labeled iOS 9. Last year, on the eve of the presentation of iOS 8, the

previous version had reached 90% of the fleet
.

AvantiOS 9which should be available in
September 2015, an iOS 8.4 version is expected, it is currently in
test phase viaa beta version.
