Famous KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo
Securities predicted thatiPhone 8 or iPhone
Editionwould have a design similar to the iPhone 4 and 4S, with a front
glass front and back, and a steel frame to separate them.
And today, the Japanese siteMacotakaracomes from
release a new report claiming that the iPhone 8 would have adesign
close to iPhone 4with a dual photo sensoraligned
vertically, and that the other two iPhone 7s would beplus
thickthan those of the current generation.
At the same time, another analyst, Andy Hargreaves, from the firm Pacific Crest
Securities, believes that if Apple does not manage to integrate Touch ID under
the screen on the front in time, the latter could beremoved from iPhone
8.
In his latest report, Macotakara adds credence to the predictions of
Ming-Chi Kuo claiming that the iPhone 8 would have an iPhone-like design
4 and 4S, witha glass front and back, both would be
separated by asteel framewhich would go all the way around.
This high-end model would retain the dual photo sensor of the iPhone 7
More, but would adopta vertical layoutinstead of
the horizontal alignment present on the iPhone 7 Plus.
The dual photo sensor would be used to offer
virtual reality features.
Concerning the other two iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, Macotakara reports that they
will be minor updates compared to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and that they
will beslightly thicker.
If so, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus cases may not be
compatible with the next two models.
Apple would experience technical difficulties integrating Touch ID under
the screen on the front, andrumors and schemes
suggested a second, less desired scenario in which Touch ID would be
moved to the back of the iPhone.
However, analyst Andy Hargreaves of Pacific Crest Securities, advances
another theory: according to him, Apple would be forced as a last resort
to eliminate Touch ID from the iPhone 8.
A scenario to be taken with a grain of salt, because it seems unlikely
that Apple backs down on this point, especially given the expected presence of
fingerprint sensor on the other two iPhone 7s and 7s Plus.
