Galaxy Buds+: Samsung's answer to AirPods 2

The release of new Galaxy Buds headphones from Samsung was notonly hypotheticaluntil yesterday. Indeed, during its Unpacked event which took place on February 12, 2020, the Korean giant presented, alongside the newGalaxy S20etGalaxy Z Flip, a new pair of headphones,Galaxy Buds+.

These therefore come in the form of in-ear earbuds, with a wireless charging box. They display characteristics similar to those of the AirPods Pro and obviously take many specific features from the first generation Galaxy Buds.

We should in fact rather see these Buds+ as competitors of the AirPods 2, despite an in-ear format, because several parameters lead us to believe that they are far removed from what Apple offers with its latest Pro models.

On the one hand, the price is much lower. They will be sold169 eurosfromFebruary 14. Remember that the AirPods Pro are priced at 279 euros and that the AirPods 2 with wireless charging box cost 229 euros at Apple.

In addition, the Galaxy Buds+ do not have active noise reduction or ear shape detection to guide the user towards the most suitable ear tip size.

They display other interesting characteristics however. First of all, they are compatible with iOS. In addition, Samsung announced an autonomy of11 a.m.for headphones alone and10 p.m.in total thanks to the charging case. Touch controls are available, as well as adjustment of surrounding noise, allowing more or less external sounds to pass through. This feature is underpinned by the implementation on the headphones of several microphones.

Concerning the sound quality, given that the Austrian specialist in the field, AKG is in charge, we can hope for a good result.

Finally, note that they are offered in different colors, blue, black or white.

They seem like a nice alternative to the AirPods 2, even if using them with an iPhone will be a little less smooth. But for 169 euros, this is an in-ear pair that could appeal to those who cannot afford to spend the 279 euros requested by Apple for the AirPods Pro.

Moreover, the Cupertino companyreportedly working on developing a new pair of AirPods, Pro “Lite”, according to a recent rumor. Perhaps entry-level in-ears, which would align with these Galaxy Buds+? The future will tell us.
