Every year since the iPhone hit the market in 2007, Apple has rolled out a new version of its mobile operating system. Most of the time, this is announced during the Worldwide Developer Conference which is organized during the summer, the last having taken place last June with the announcement of iOS 15. The program will finally have landed on the devices of the public just a few weeks ago, with its share of new features.
Today is the Hacker 34 YouTube channel,to whom we already owe a concept of the iPhone SE “Plus”, who imagined what the next version of the software could look like…
Locked screen
To start, our creator imagined an iOS 16 with screenalways-on, that is to say “always on”. The Apple Watch already has this feature (on certain models only), which allows for example to have the time at any time like on a real watch. But be careful, because this system, although very popular since its arrival on Android several years ago, constantly consumes energy. The ProMotion display of the iPhone 13, which can lower its refresh rate to a very low frequency, however, helps to counterbalance this negative effect.
The video also shows how Apple could finally allow you to personalize the shortcuts installed at the bottom of the lock screen. At the moment, these redirect to the camera and flashlight.
Home screen
On the home screen, widgets are still quite limited. Taking advantage of playback controls for Apple Music, buttons to trigger your HomeKit connected objects or even a list of reminders and an interactive timer could, however, change the situation: this is also what we can see in the video .
Note also the arrival of icon packs directly from the Settings app, which would avoid using third-party apps.
Others
The Control Center, too, has been revisited by the Hacker 34 since there are quick actions to manage access permissions to the microphone and camera. The low battery notification is also improved, allowing you to immediately trigger power saving mode by touching it.
Finally, let's also mention the case of the transformation of Apple Pay which here accommodates cryptocurrency wallets. A solution which would already be in the pipeline at Cupertino, if we are to believe certain rumors…
