Apple: the iPhone XR is the best-selling model since its release

Since the release of the iPhone XR, we have been able to seeseveral reportsof analysts claiming a drop in the production volume of this model, suggesting that it would not sell as well as hoped.

However, in an interview with the newspaperCNET, Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of product marketing, says thatthe iPhone XR is the best-selling model since its release. However, this is an official response to be put into perspective.

In this interview with Greg Joswiak, the latter states: “The iPhone XR has been our most popular iPhone every day since the day it was released“, since October 26.

Greg Joswiak, however, does not provide any further information on sales of the iPhone XR. Apple hasannounced in the latest quarterly resultsthat the company will no longer reveal the number of units sold for the next quarterly results.

It will therefore be necessary to rely on analysts' estimates to get an idea of Apple's product sales for the coming quarters. This did not please the stock market. Indeed, Apple's stock fell following this announcement, a decline which was maintained with pessimistic reports from suppliers.

Apple's response via Greg Joswiak does not mean that the iPhone XR is a success. It simply means that the iPhone XR is the best-selling iPhone model, even with a possible decline in iPhone sales.

A recent report from Rosenblatt Securities stated that there is improvement in iPhone XR sales in China. But globally, salesremain below expectations.

This echoes anotherreport by renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The latter expects a decline in iPhone sales compared to the previous year, with an estimated figure of 47 to 52 million iPhones for the first quarter of 2019, compared to 52 million units sold in the first quarter of 2018.
