Since the holding of theWWDCAt the end of June, we gradually learned more about the new features of iOS 14. Among these, we must take into account improvements on thetrousseau iCloud, the password manager integrated into all Apple devices.
Reinforced protection on macOS 11 Big Sur
This new feature, called “Security Tips”, will highlight passwords that may have been compromised. Some may have already been pirated and offered on the internet. Among other examples of alerts, iCloud Keychain will notify you when your password is used by many other users, making it too easy to guess. It can warn you when it is not complex enough or when a sequence is too easy to find, for example 123, or azerty.
On macOS 11 Big Sur, Apple will also offer improvements to its iCloud keychain. The apple brand described how it will work:
Safari securely monitors your saved passwords, automatically keeping an eye out for passwords that may have been involved in a data breach. To do this, Safari uses powerful cryptographic techniques to regularly check your password derivations against a list of breached passwords in a secure and private manner that does not reveal your password information, even to Apple. If Safari discovers a breach, it can help you switch to Sign in with Apple when available or automatically generate a new secure password.
All that remains is to wait until this fall for all of these new features to be available to the public.
