MacAlly MBP52L battery test: 5200 mAh with Lighting and USB socket for iPhone, iPad, etc…

The autonomy of our
pocket machines is indeed their most frustrating aspect, sometimes even a real
handicap when it comes to finishing a day's work. For this, the
prop makers have imagined several solutions to allow you to recharge your
smartphone or tablet on the move: battery cases and batteries
autonomous.

Today it is a large battery with two sockets that we will
discover togetherfor this new test
iPhone accessory
and we're going to see it from iPad.

Premier contact

The battery is
quite bulky without being enormous and it will find it more easily
its place in an iPad sleeve, a schoolbag than in a pocket. She is
entirely in plastic: white for the top and bottom, silver
for the sides. No doubt, it matches perfectly with the iPhone or
the iPad in particular for the white model.

We quickly distinguish what makes it specific: these are
the two integrated cableson top or on the side. Mon
shorter has a grip that you recognize at first glance,
it is a small socket in Lightning format, which allows the connection and the
charging an iPhone, iPod or iPad.

The other socket is dedicated to machines that recharge with a micro socket
USB likesmartphones Android par
example
.

A button and LEDs are visible on the upper face, they allow
to know the charge level and start charging when a device
Apple is hip.

The battery has a capacity of5200 mAh, what is needed
compare to the 1570 mAh capacity of an iPhone 5s for example.

Utilisation

The battery, as we have seen, has a substantial capacity. It recharges in
connecting a micro USB cable provided, itself to be plugged into the charger
iPhone, iPad or computer USB port.

The recharge time is in line with the battery capacity,
since it was necessaryapproximately 10 hours to fully recharge it
with the iPhone transformer. During charging, an LED animation
allows you to check that everything is going well and to see where you are.

Charging with a 10W iPad transformer gives a recharge time of
9h, petit gain.

Then, releasing the Lighting cable is easy, it appears very short
but allows you to easily connect an iOS device equipped with this socket which
equips recent Apple products. Once connected, you must press for 2
seconds on the button located on the front panel to start recharging.

Here is the result of our charging tests:

  • It was possible to fully recharge an iPhone 5s (it was
completely empty to the point of being turned off initially)twice
with a fully charged battery then approximately17% of a third
    recharge
    .
  • Another test, with the battery full, it was possible to carry out
an iPhone rechargeeta Nexus 5 recharge
    up to approximately 64%
(this model has a larger battery capacity
imposing since it carries a 2300 mAh battery)

Finally, last test, charging an iPad mini 2has been
possible at half (from 3% to 53%) with full battery
initially.

Please note: charging via the USB cable has only one difference
with that of an iOS machine, it is triggered as soon as it is plugged in,
no need to press the button.

If the connection is easy, you should know that the handling during the
recharging imposes a constraint. In fact, thethe whole must remain posed
on a table afterwards
, because it is difficult to use the iPhone or
the iPad thus connected to the battery because of the reduced size of the cables.

Conclusion

This is an extra battery that will appeal to those who have great needs
in terms of recharging at the cost of taking up more space than the batteries of
pockets and other shells. It is rather elegant and the integration of the two
cables will allow those who have USB machines or accessories to enjoy them
also battery without having to carry around additional cables
as is often the case with external batteries.

We nevertheless regreta power output which remains well below
of what we could have hoped for
, with only two recharges
complete iPhone. We would also have appreciated having a third cable,
allowing you to plug into a USB socket, like what we had seen
on
the pocket battery tested here
.
