Review of the Apple leather case for iPhone 5/5s

In parallel with the launch of theiPhone 5s, Apple
proposed'official' leather cases for the iPhone 5/5s

Obviously an official case, we couldn't resist the urge to
take a closer look especially as it is also compatible with the iPhone
5.

So forward for thecomplete test of the Apple case
used with an iPhone 5 Black:

We will quickly move on to the packaging, classic, in plastic
transparent.

When you open it, when you first hold it, you immediately feel that the
hull is of quality. It is superbly finished, cut to the millimeter and it
smells like quality leather with a very pleasant soft touch.

It turns out to be rather thin and quite light with a level of protection which is
wants quite complete.

The interior of the shell is covered with very soft micro-fiber fabrics which
will not scratch the back of the iPhone.

Note also that Apple could not resist the desire to add the
mentions 'iPhone' and Design by Apple... like on the back of the iPhone.

In terms of openings, it is well thought out and well cut. The vibrator button
is easily accessible as is the mini Jack socket and the dock
Lightning.

On the other hand, the openings for the jack socket and the part for the dock
Lightning are too fair. If using the Apple Lightning cable poses no problem
of course no problem, if you use theadapter 30
pins/Lightning tested here, know that he will not return.

The same goes for opening the headphone jack. If you use the
earphones provided by Apple or other models with a straight output, everything fits
GOOD. On the other hand, if the jack plug is curved or thick, you risk having
problems plugging in your headphones.

The Power button and volume buttons are protected and, even if the case
is intended to be quite rigid, there is no need to press like a madman to
trigger an action.

Large grilles allow you to enjoy the sound of the speaker without the
less loss just like for the microphone part which did not suffer from the
least loss.

Everything is perfectly protected but without unpleasant compensation.

The feel and appearance of the leather case are very pleasant and I
must admit that it will be very difficult for me to return to theSGP Slim Armor tested
iciwhich was for the moment my main hull.

When we have tasted this quality of leather, we look at a case with another eye
plastic and silicone necessarily much less classy.

The opening for the camera sensor is wide and the use
flash poses no problem. We suspected that with the iPhone 5s and its flash
Double-LED, it's not that of the iPhone 5 that was going to be a problem.

Apple has of course signed its case with its logo slightly hollowed out at the back
but in a very sober way. Classy but not too flashy.

The shell is soft to the touch and fits easily into a pocket.
jacket or pants even if the leather remains relatively non-slip on a
flat surface made of glass or wood for example. A good middle ground again
times.

It turns out to be very protective since the iPhone is completely covered,
whether on the sides or on the upper and lower parts sometimes
neglected on certain hulls.

The screen is perfectly clear, the shell stopping on the edges of
the iPhone while slightly exceeding it in thickness and you will be able to
place the iPhone screen-side down on a desk without fear.

If you have opted for protective glass such as theSGP Glas T Slim tested here, the hull is
wide enough to be perfectly compatible. To my great surprise,
I was even able to place the iPhone screen side down on the desk side and the case is fine
which makes contact and not the window. There is certainly little margin (of the order of 1/2
millimeter) but it is an appreciable point.

The shell is intended to be thin and light enough so as not to weigh down too much or spoil the
design of the iPhone even if of course it is still well hidden but
well protected, you can't have everything.

In conclusion, the Apple case is classy, ​​superbly finished and sufficiently
protective with a flawless leather finish that packs a mean punch
from old to plastic/silicone cases.

We will regret the openings that are too tight for the mini Jack sockets and
Lightning. If you use official cables and headphones intended for
a smartphone, that won't pose any problem but, otherwise, it
It would be better to check compatibility first.

Finally, as you can imagine, a leather Apple case is not cheap
but, personally, after several days of use, I consider
that it is well worth the39 €
claimed on the Apple Store.
