iOS 7 review: the good, the beautiful… and the perfectible!

With iOS 7, everything is

As for the Task Manager, it is always accessed from the
same way, by double clicking on the home button, but it has
changed and for good reason,with a simple icon bar, it occupies
today the whole screen. Once activated, it is possible to do
scroll through all open apps that appear with a preview of
the screen. Practical, pleasant and compatible with landscape mode, we appreciate it in the car
to switch from GPS to speed camera warning without constraints.

Closing the apps almost becomes a game since you have to make them waltz
fingertips towards the top of the screen. We can even close several
simultaneously.

iOS 7 seen, applications side

There too, everything has changed, without really changing. In general, the
features remained, sometimes slightly improved, but the decor is
very different. Modern, resolutely colorful, sometimes surprising, we get used to it,
but it’s a refreshing success. Afterwards, the tastes and colors

The native apps are all in iOS 7 style, the others, those that we
downloaded from the App Store have for many become a bit dated but
updates have been cascading since the release of iOS 7.

Another new feature on the app side: updates are automatic, there is no
nothing more to do, it happens by itself. It's almost magical and downright
awesome ! (think ofkeep deactivation
of the auto update in 3G if the package is a little tight)

There is no photo!

Whether it's the photo app that allows you to view your photos or
the camera, the new features are very numerous.

  • Photo: the moments function is very well done,
    pleasant to use and practical for browsing photo libraries
    who only lie down! The app has been completely redesigned and it
    will take some time to get used to it. The photo stream sharing tab is
    particularly aesthetic and the photos scroll in a very pleasant flow to
    to consult.
  • Camera: He winsa mode

    a dedicated app, the same for thezoom in the video(in
    pinching) and the filters which also appear. This reduces the need
    of third-party apps by making everything available where we usually go.

As for Safari, the presentation and full screen mode provide
viewing comfort, but be careful of the tabs that accumulate at
every time we consult an Internet page from emails by
example. Please note, they are easily closed with a simple slide of your finger towards the
left, no need to aim for the (small) cross. Just like in the app
Mail, the appearance of gestures (swipe to go to the previous page)
is not really obvious and requires changing one's habits, even if it means
force to use new things, before they become obvious. We
will return to gestures that are by definition invisible, but so practical in iOS
7.

We will not go over all the applications, some are more or less
aesthetically successful (I have difficulty with the all-red level hidden in the
compass, but again, most iPhone users wanted
of the graphic change, we cannot blame Apple for the lack of disruption
on the spot!

It's much better, but...

You have understood, iOS 7 marks a break, an upgrade after
years of small changes and real risk-taking. There
first impression is often difficult, but after several days, the
colors no longer jump out at the eye, the whole becomes pleasant and beyond
the graphic aspect it is the new features of the system which take the place and
demonstrate that it would be difficult to go back.

However, everything is not rosy and in our eyes we are still missing many
things so that iOS 7 meets all expectations. Obviously, we don't talk
flash support (who still remembers these discussions years ago
years) nor SMS acknowledgments of receipt (a recurring one in our comments,
which will never be implemented, that's how it is but is it really serious?),
but more advanced functions that could satisfy the greatest
name.

Let's start with widgets. Open the notification center
developers and other apps could give it a lot more
of importance and attraction. These same widget could also
displayed on the lock page according to the choices defined by
the user.

A full landscape mode on iPhone would also be very practical. What is waiting for
Apple to finally complete this work present on the iPad since its beginnings

Another lack: iTunes radio, announced in the US, but not elsewhere, we
don't like it so it has to come quickly...

One important point that remains to be improved is autonomy. It seems that
even with the latest version released yesterday, the autonomy of the machines is in
removal with iOS 7. So is this linked to optimizations to be perfected or to
the more demanding interface (graphic effects, animated background, live icon, etc.)
?) we don't really know, but it's the feeling that dominates even if it remains
very difficult to quantify.

Let's finish with the animated wallpapers: it makes our mouths water but
the selection remains restricted to those offered by Apple... We hope that
new ones may be proposed by the developers and downloadable from
the App Store one day.

But overall, after several weeks of use, iOS 7 remains good
more pleasant, natural and colorful (!) than its predecessors according to
