A 5G chip from Intel for the iPhone in 2020, if all goes well!

One of the next major developments that smartphones will experience in the short term is5G modem integration. Apple could also release aiPhone 5G from 2020. The Apple firm would work for this purpose with Intel, after having sidelined Qualcomm, historic subcontractor of the Californian company:

However, as FastCompany reports, Apple could once again look elsewhere by cutting short Intel's efforts. Indeed, the modem currently developed by the American semiconductor giant, codenamed 8060, would have the disadvantage ofconsume too much energyand emit lots of heat.

Intel would work to correct these defects which could impact the autonomy of the devices. Still, Apple would not currently be satisfied with Intel's proposal. The Cupertino company would even have planned abackup plan involving manufacturer MediaTek.
