The iOS 12 release date is now official. It will be this evening. At the same time, Apple delivered to developers and those registered in the public beta test program, the final version called “Gold Master” or “GM”.
The Apple firm also updated the developer portal with additional information regarding the new products launched last week. THEnew iPhones and Apple Watches will need to be supportedby app developersfrom 2019.
More specifically, app developers will need to support the new screen sizes of theiPhone XS Maxand theApple Watch Series 4, not later than inmars 2019.
This concerns allnew apps and updatessubmitted from this date. Without this compatibility, they will be refused by the App Store teams.
To do this, developers must use the iOS 12 SDK and the watchOS 5 SDK, which are provided by Apple with the new version of Xcode.
Enough to leave 6 months for developers to adapt their code (after the three months of this summer and 10 beta versions for iOS 12) and thus ensure that the flagship products of the range have apps that match their size (large) screen.
