iPhone 8: higher screen resolution, here's how the interface with virtual home button could take advantage of it

Following the publication of
operating system of the HomePod, developer Steve Troughton-Smith made
some interesting discoveries while poking around in the code, like the
design
of iPhone 8
, its resolution andothers
indications
.

We thus learned that the iPhone 8 would have a 5.15-inch screen with a
resolution of2436 x 1125 pixels, which is the same width as
the iPhone 7, but22% more height. Based on
the current interface of iOS 11, a developer showed how the display
could benefit from avirtual Home button and a larger
resolution
.

The HomePod OS includes a reference to the “Home Indicator” or Home button
virtual which would be located in a functional area with other controls in
bottom of the screen.

Developer Allen Pike also shows how navigation elements
in an app could be moved to the bottom of the screen, fromleaves and
other from the virtual Home button
. They would at the same time be more
easily accessible than if they were at the top of the screen.

According to him, the current interface under iOS 11 is not very consistent with
large empty spaces. He thinks that Apple is moving towards a
new type of display and navigation in apps by moving
some elements at the bottom of the screen.

However, there remains an unknown factor concerning this virtual button, is it
that Apple has managed to integrate the fingerprint sensor, or what
will the latter be replaced by facial recognition, as suggested by
journal Bloomberg ?

What do you think of this new type of interface with a button
virtual ?
