Update – April 20 Keynote “Spring Loaded”: what to expect?

Update from April 20, 2021: as almost every time before each keynote, the Apple online store is no longer available. The Californian giant indicates that an update is in progress, which generally means that new products should arrive on the shelves soon, virtual first (immediately after the conference, normally), physical then.

Tonight, 7 p.m., Apple will make new announcements as part of a spring keynote called Spring Loaded, made official yesterday.

Yes, yespresentation logodoes not leave too much room for interpretation as to the possible new products that should be revealed, we can however imagine the program on the basis of recent rumors and other analyzes from tech specialists.

So here, below, is what we should see during next Tuesday's keynote, but also what it would be better not to bet a token on.

What announcements are likely for the “Spring Loaded” keynote?

iPad Pro: very likely

A new generation of iPad Pro willcertainly its appearance next Tuesdayin the Apple video. Rumors about a renewal of the range for the month of April have been persistent lately.

There would be two new models, one 11″, following the 2nd generation iPad Pro 11″ (2020), the other 12.9 inch following the iPad Pro 12, 9″ 4th generation (2020).

Both should integrate anew A14X processor chip(similar to the Apple silicon M1 chip), a 5G modem in their Wi-Fi + Cellular version and some other new features possibly in photos. The design should not change one iota. The big change actually concerns the large screen model, which would integrate, latest news, a miniLED panel offering better contrast than classic LCD, but also better energy management. Otherwise, it could be, even if this remains highly debated, that theThunderbolt compatibilityis required on this new generation of iPad Pro, which would constitute a significant development for connectivity on iPad.

Item Trackers: Likely

Here's a product that we've been waiting for for months: AirTags. These would be small chips to be coupled to objects to track and locate them via Bluetooth from the iPhone, and even using other users' iPhones.

Several references to AirTags have already been found in iOS, whileeverything seems to be in place in iOS 14.5to welcome them properly.

iPad mini : probable

Still on the iPad side, a new mini model is reportedly in preparation at Apple. The current model is starting to get old, released in 2019, with its wide-brimmed design. Precisely, as part of a welcome refresh, the iPad Pro could experience a slight facelift. Attention, don't expect a case similar to the iPad Pro or the latest iPad Air. Simply, the 8.4-inch screen of the next model would bemore edge to edge. An A14 chip could also be there.

Apple TV : probable

Apple's latest TV box dates from 2017. It is the Apple TV 4K. More than three years later, some rumors have established that Apple is planning to release a new generation of Apple TV. This would befocused on video games, with powerful components supporting the120 Hz, while it would also come equipped with anew remote control. The Californian firm has already introduced new Apple TVs in the spring, it would not be surprising if it did the same this year.

New Macs: less likely

Since the Apple silicon M1 chip appeared on MacBook Air, Pro 13″ and Mac mini in 2020, many users have been waiting for the same update on Mac Pro, iMac and MacBook Pro 16″. If it would be time to see the appearance of anew iMacwith Apple silicon chip, for the Mac Pro and the MacBook Pro 16″, you will have to wait a little longer, according to the latest rumors.

In reality, the Mac machine that is most likely to appear before summer is anew MacBook Pro 14″ model.

But still?

A 3rd generation of AirPods would also be in the works at Apple. But several analysts have recently counted on the fact that it should not happenbefore fall. There is therefore little chance of seeing the AirPods 3 shine at the next keynote.
