Facial recognition on the iPhone 8 should allow Apple Pay authentication: bye-bye Touch ID?

Not long ago, the newspaper
American Bloomberg argued that facial recognition
would replace Touch ID
or fingerprint sensor in iPhone 8.
In addition, we saw in the firmware of the HomePod, traces of a system of
facial recognition.

And while many wonder how Apple Pay would work without it
Touch ID, it seems from the HomePod OS, that Apple has found a way
to make payments using credit recognition
visage
.

A developer named @i_rdn on Twitter foundtwo
references
to facial recognition “pearl.field-detect” and
"pearl.pre-arm"among the authentication informationpour
make a payment.

For information,Pearl IDwould be the code name for the system
facial recognition from Apple.

However, this new authentication method must be reliable
and well protected to prevent anyone from using it with a photo of the
owner of the device, as is the case with the Samsung Galaxy S8.

However, according to a
recent Bloomberg report
, Apple's solution would capture more than
data than Touch ID thanks in particular to 3D depth perception,
which would make it safer and harder to fool with a photo in
2D.

Since the HomePod firmware has no trace or mention
of Touch ID, it's a safe bet that the latter will disappear from the iPhone 8.

It is also possible that this "publication error" of the OS of the
HomePod is a marketing stunt from Apple to prepare users for the
disappearance of Touch ID, as was the case with the removal of the headphone port
on the iPhone 7.
