The main new features

  • Dark mode: the entire OS and apps go black, Apple Notes, Apple Messages, etc., but also the keyboard and widgets

Security and privacy

  • Silent calls from unknown numbers: automatic silencing option with redirection to messaging for calls from unknown numbers, not found by the system in Contacts, Mail and Messages.The detail there
  • Protection des contacts: developers who request access to the user's address book cannot obtain data from the “notes” field of contacts,as described here
  • Unwanted contacts: in addition to blocked phone numbers, the user can now block email addresses
  • Blacklist in Mail (updated): an address can be blocked in the Mail app. Emails from this address are then immediately sent to the trash bin. The list of blocked email addresses is shared between all linked Apple devices
  • Temporary parental control of contacts (updated): in the screen time control settings, a new option allows you to limit who the child can communicate with during a specific time slot
  • Permanent parental limitation of the address book (updated): Parents can also decide which contacts are visible on their child's iOS device, and which are not

  • Safari Tab Group Backup: ability to save a group of tabs to reopen them later
  • Safari and its home page: new home page allowing faster access to frequently visited sites
  • Airports in Maps: Apple's mapping app includes new data on flights, airport terminals, departures and more
