Update May 27: flash promo on ear hooks for AirPods EarHooks tested below, at €8.50 until 11:15 p.m.
AirPods addicts want to take them everywhere, even for running or sweating at the gym! Except that depending on the shape of the ear, they sometimes tend to escape... Not necessarily great in action, especially since an earphone is expensive... But fortunately there are solutions. These areaccessories to hang them, we were able to seeseveral models in our selection of accessories here.
Today, these are theEarHookthat we will discover together in this test.
This is a simple solution that turns AirPods into wireless sports headphones.
- EarHooks are on sale here(several colors)
These ear hooks are offered by Elago, to whom we oweoriginal Apple Watch supportsalready tested in our columns: theversion mini macintosh icietGameBoy style there.
On the way to discover the EarHooks:
They arrive in their very small packaging, well protected.
Several colors are available:white, black, red or even phosphorescent, practical for finding them in the dark!
When unpacking, we discover two pieces of slightly flexible plastic:
To find your way around, a symbol L for left and R for right are provided:
Installation is easy, you simply slide each earphone into the hole provided:
Then simply adjust the height and angle to fit the shape and size of the ear.
The whole thing islightand quite easy to set up. The location which accommodates the stem of the headphones is perfectly adjusted, theyfit very well in it, not risking escape.
During the tests, once the adjustment was well adjusted, there were no problems with dropping. For good reason! The earhook, combined with the shape of Apple's headphones, givesa whole reminiscent of classic sports audio headphones, minus the thread!
To check this, we tested it during sports and, stopping at nothing, even jumping rope! No fall to deplore there or in the absence of a hook, the AirPods only lasted a few seconds.
In terms of possible improvements, by comparing them with a more classic helmet but intended for sport, we say that theear size could probably have been smaller, and ametal insert could allow the shape to be adjusted even better.
Otherwise, as we have understood, a disadvantage must be noted, this is the case for all the accessories linked to holding the AirPods headphones: they must be removed from their hook to slide them into the charging case. You will then have to redo or have memorized the “adjustment” in terms of angle and height.
Ultimately, a simple and lightweight solution that enriches the use of AirPods, providing security during sports sessions. They should rather be reserved for this type of occasional use, for which the handling of installation and removal remains occasional. The price is relatively low and the manufacturing, although simple, is without visible defects. The EarHooks do the job and do it well!
We could just imagine an even more adjustable deluxe version with a metal insert and rubber material for a perfect fit.
- EarHooks are on sale here(several colors) priced at €9.99 to €10.99 depending on the color
